Before requesting service, make the following checks. If you are uncertain about some of the check points, or if the solutions indicated in the following guide does not resolve the issue, then consult your dealer for instructions.

Stereo Power Amplifier / SE-R1

Heat buildup of this unit.

This unit becomes warm when the volume is high. This is not a malfunction.

A "humming" sound can be heard during playback.

  • An AC mains lead or fluorescent light is near the cables. Keep other appliances and cords away from the cables of this unit.
  • A strong magnetic field near a TV or other device may adversely affect the audio quality. Keep this unit away from such devices.
  • The speakers may output noise when a device nearby is emitting powerful radio waves, such as when a mobile phone is on a call.

No sound.

  • Check connections to speakers and other equipment.
  • Check to see if the correct input source is selected.
  • Insert the plugs of the cables to be connected all the way in.
  • Set the speaker selector knob to other than [OFF].

The peak power meter does not operate.

In the following cases, this meter does not operate:
– When the peak power meter light is turned off by pressing [DIMMER].
– When this unit is muted by pressing [MUTE] on the SU-R1’s remote control. (Only when the input selector knob is set to [DIGITAL].)
– When the speaker selector knob is set to [OFF].

The system control function is not working.

The unit turns off automatically.

  • Is the auto off function turned on?
    To cancel this function, set to [OFF] the [AUTO OFF] switch which is located on the rear panel.
  • If the SU-R1 is connected to this unit via the system control function, this unit may automatically enter standby mode when the SU-R1 enters standby mode.
  • This unit incorporates a protection circuit to prevent damage caused by heat buildup. When you use this unit at a high volume level for a long period of time, it may turn off automatically. Wait for this unit to cool down before turning on this unit again. (For approximately 3 minutes)

I want to hold the SE-R1 as Power On condition.

  • Step1. Set to [OFF] the [AUTO OFF] switch which is located on the rear panel of SE-R1.
  • Step2. Set to "Off" the "AUTO OFF" function of SU-R1.
    1. Press [SETUP].
    2. Press [ UP ][ Down ] repeatedly to select "AUTO OFF" and then press [OK].
    3. Press [ UP ][ Down ] to select "Off" and then press [OK].
  • Step3. Press unit on/off button of SU-R1 to [ OFF].

I want to improve the measurement accuracy of LAPC.

  • When the SU-R1 is connected to this unit and "Tone Control" function is "On", please set to "Off" the "Tone Control" function and start measurement of LAPC.

Network Audio Control Player / SU-R1

GENERAL QUESTIONS

A "humming" sound can be heard during playback.

An AC mains lead or fluorescent light is near the cables. Keep other appliances and cords away from the cables of this unit.

No sound.

  • Check the volume of the connected device (amplifier, etc.).
  • Check to see if the cable connections to the input and output terminals are incorrect. If this is the case, turn off this unit and reconnect the cables correctly.
  • Check to see if the correct input source is selected.
  • Insert the plugs of the cables to be connected all the way in.
  • When "Digital Output", "Analog Output" or "Digital Link" is set to "Off", no sound will be output. Change the setting of the output terminal in the setup menu to be used to "On".
  • Playback of multi-channel content is not supported.
  • The digital audio input terminals of this unit can only detect linear PCM signals. For details, refer to the operating instructions of the device.

The sound is interrupted.

Depending on your environment, the audio may be interrupted during playback. Check the operating instructions of the connected device and the connection to the device.

Playback does not start.

Depending on your environment or connected devices, it may take some time.

  1. Press [SETUP].
  2. Press [ UP ][ Down ] repeatedly to select "AUTO OFF" and then press [OK].
  3. Press [ UP ][ Down ] to select "Off" and then press [OK].

How to change the Friendly Name.

  1. Press [SETUP].
  2. Press [ up ][ down ] repeatedly to select "Network" and then press [OK].
  3. Press [ up ][ down ] repeatedly to select "Friendly Name" and then press [OK].
  4. Press [ up ][ down ] [ left ][ right ] to input the Friendly Name.
    • - Only ASCII characters can be used.
    • - "A" can be added when you press the [ right ] at the time of the last letter of the Friendly Name is selected.
    • - Press [CLEAR] to delete a letter.
    • - Press [ ≥10 ] to insert a letter "A".
    • - Default name is "Technics SU-R1 _ _ _ _ _ _"*1.
      *1 " _ " stands for a digit that is unique to each set.
  5. Press [OK] to apply the Friendly Name.
  6. Press [RETURN] repeatedly to exit the settings.

Please tell me the contents displaying on the main unit's display during playback.

In case of input source is LAN, DMR, AirPlay or USB, press [INFO] button to display the track, artist, and album names, file type, sampling frequency, and other information.

I want to hold the SE-R1 as Power On condition.

  • Step1. Set to [OFF] the [AUTO OFF] switch which is located on the rear panel of SE-R1.
  • Step2. Set to "Off" the "AUTO OFF" function of SU-R1.
    • 1. Press [SETUP].
    • 2. Press [ up ][ down ] repeatedly to select "AUTO OFF" and then press [OK].
    • 3. Press [ up ][ down ] to select "Off" and then press [OK].
  • Step3. Press unit on/off button of SU-R1 to [ up OFF].

AirPlay/DLNA

Cannot connect to the network.

Confirm the network connection and settings.

Cannot connect to the unit.

  • Make sure that the multicast function on the wireless router is enabled.
  • Make sure that the device and the unit are connected to the same network.
  • Reconnect the compatible device to the network and then connect to this unit again.
  • Set "Network Standby" in the setup menu to "Off", turn this unit off and on, and then connect to this unit again.

Playback does not start. The sound is interrupted.

  • Simultaneous use with other 2.4 GHz devices, such as microwaves, cordless telephones, etc., may result in connection interruptions. Increase the distance between the wireless router and these devices.
  • If several wireless devices are simultaneously using the same wireless network as this unit, try turning off the other devices or reducing their wireless network usage.
  • If the playback stops, check the playback status on the device.

Cannot find music files stored on the PC.

When you play back music files over a network, those that are not registered to its network server are not displayed. Whether or not each music file can be played back over your network is determined by the network server even if the format of the file is supported by this unit. For example, if you are using Windows Media® Player 11, not all music files on the PC are playable. You can play back only those added to the library of Windows Media® Player 11.

Cannot display the information properly.

  • Track names, etc. may not be displayed properly.

NAS

Playback does not start.

  • Please confirm the update information of NAS.
  • When transcode setting is available, please try to select other settings.

iPhone/iPad/iPod

Cannot operate.

  • Select "USB" as the input source.
  • Check that the iPhone/iPad/iPod is connected properly.
  • Connect the iPhone/iPad/iPod again or try to restart the iPhone/iPad/iPod.
  • The battery of the iPhone/iPad/iPod is depleted. Charge the iPhone/iPad/iPod, and then operate again.

iPhone/iPad/iPod does not charge.

Make sure the unit is turned on when you start charging.
– When charging an iPhone/iPad/iPod whose battery is depleted, do not turn this unit to standby mode until the iPhone/iPad/iPod becomes operational.

USB

The USB drive or its contents cannot be read.

The USB drive format or its contents is/are not compatible with the unit.

No response when [ play / pause ] is pressed.

Disconnect the USB device and then reconnect it. Alternatively, turn the unit off and on again.

Slow operation of the USB flash drive.

Large file size or high memory USB flash drive takes longer time to read.

Cannot display the information properly.

  • Track names, etc. may not be displayed properly.

PC

The PC does not recognise this unit.

  • Check your operating environment.
  • Restart the PC, turn off and on this unit, and then reconnect the USB cable.
  • Use another USB port of the connected PC.
  • Install the dedicated USB driver if using a PC with Windows.

Cannot play music stored on the PC.

  • This unit does not guarantee playback with all music player applications. Use the dedicated app "Technics Audio Player for Windows / Mac". For information of Technics Audio Player for Windows / Mac, refer to the following website.

Remote control

The remote control does not work properly.

  • To avoid interference, please do not put any objects in front of signal sensor.
  • Change the remote control code if other products react to this remote control.
    • - Point the remote control at this unit, and press and hold [OK] and the numeric button [1] or [2] for at least 4 seconds.
    • - When the remote control code is changed, the new code will appear on the display for a few seconds.

Messages
The following messages or service numbers may appear on the unit’s display.

"AUTO OFF"

The unit has been left unused for about 20 minutes and will shut down within a minute. Press any button to cancel it.

"Checking Connection"

The unit is checking the connected iPhone/iPad/iPod or a USB device.

"Download Error"

  • The firmware download has failed. Press any button to exit. Please try again later.
  • The server cannot be found. Press any button to exit. Make sure that the network is connected to the Internet.

"Empty"

  • The selected folder is empty. Move tracks into the folder and retry the operation.
  • The server is not found on the network. Check to see if the server is connected to the same network as this unit, and retry the connection to this unit.

"Error"

Incorrect operation is performed. Read the instructions and try again.

"F□□" ("□" stands for a number.)

There is a problem with this unit.
– Is the volume extremely high? If so, lower the volume.
– Is this unit placed in an extremely hot place? If so, move this unit to a cooler place and wait a few moments and then try to turn it on again. If the problem persists, write down the displayed number, disconnect the AC mains lead and consult your dealer.

"No Network Connection"

This unit is not connected to the network. Check the network connection.

"Not Conditional"

The function you have tried to use is not available with the current settings. Check the steps and settings.

"Over Flow"

The audio from the analogue audio input terminal in use is distorted. Select "Attenuator" in the setup menu, and change the setting for the analogue audio input terminal in use to "On".

"PGM Full"

The number of programmed tracks is more than 24.

"Please Wait"

This is displayed, for example, when this unit is turned on/off. (For up to 1 minute and 30 seconds)

"Remote□" ("□" stands for a number.)

The remote control and this unit are using different codes. Change the code on the remote control.
– When "Remote 1" is displayed, press and hold [OK] and [1] for at least 4 seconds.
– When "Remote 2" is displayed, press and hold [OK] and [2] for at least 4 seconds.

"Searching"

The unit is checking the DLNA server on the network.

"Unlocked"

  • "PC", "AES", "COAX1", "COAX2", "COAX3" or "OPT" is selected, but no device is connected. Check the connection with the device.
  • Audio signals, such as sampling frequency components, are not input correctly.
    – About supported format, refer to "File format" in the operating instructions.

"USB Over Current Error"

The iPhone/iPad/iPod or USB device is drawing too much power. Disconnect the iPhone/iPad/iPod or USB device and turn the unit off and on again.

"Hub Device Not Supported","Unrecognizable Device","Unsupported","Unsupported USB Device"

  • You have connected an iPhone/iPad/iPod or USB device that is not supported.
    – If the iPhone/iPad/iPod is compatible, turn it on and connect it correctly.
  • The format of the file on the iPhone/iPad/iPod or USB device is not supported.
    – About supported format, refer to "File format" in the operating instructions.

Grand Class / SL-1200GAE, SL-1200G, SL-1200GR

GENERAL QUESTIONS

No power.

  • Is the AC mains lead plugged in? Plug the mains lead in firmly.

There is power but no sound. Sound is weak.

  • Are connections to the amplifier/receiver's PHONO terminals correct? Connect the PHONO cables to the amplifier's PHONO terminals.

Left and right sounds are reversed.

  • Are the stereo connection cable connections to the amplifier or receiver reversed? Double check all connections.
  • Are connections of the head shell's lead wires to the cartridge terminals correct? Double check all connections.

Humming is heard during play.

  • Are there other appliances or their AC mains lead near the stereo connection cable? Separate the appliances and their AC mains lead from this unit.
  • Is the earth lead connected? Make sure the earth lead is correctly connected.

The Strobe light or the blue indicator blinks.

  • Perform the following operation when the strobe light or the blue indicator blinks. The symptom may be improved.
    1. Turn [ON/OFF] to OFF.
    2. Pull out the power plug, wait for three seconds, and then insert the plug again.
    3. Turn [ON/OFF] to ON and press [START-STOP] to rotate the turntable.
  • If the strobe light or the blue indicator blinks again, check which one is blinking and contact our service representative.

While playing record, the turntable revolves with a gently wavy motion.

  • Remove the turntable and clean the centre spindle, and then fit the turntable again. It might be improved.

Network Audio Amplifier / SU-G30

GENERAL QUESTIONS

The unit does not work.
Operations are not done properly.

  • One of the unit's safety devices, etc. may have been activated.
    1. Press [] on the unit to switch the unit to standby.
      • If the unit does not switch to standby, press [] on the unit for at least 5 seconds. The unit is forcibly switched to standby.
      • Alternatively, disconnect the AC mains lead, wait for at least 3 minutes, then reconnect it.
    2. Press [] on the unit to switch on. If the unit still cannot be operated, consult the dealer.

Playback does not start.

  • Depending on your environment or connected devices, it may take some time.
  • Check to see if the format of the file is supported. About supported format, refer to "File format". (⇒ Operating Instructions)

The unit turns to standby mode automatically.

  • Is the auto off function turned on ?
  • This unit incorporates a protection circuit to prevent damage caused by heat buildup. When you use this unit at a high volume level for a long period of time, it may turn off automatically. Wait for this unit to cool down before turning on this unit again. (For approximately 3 minutes)

The sound is interrupted.

  • Depending on your environment, the audio may be interrupted during playback. Check the operating instructions of the connected device and the connection to the device.

The settings are reset to the factory defaults.

  • Updating the firmware may reset the settings.

The sound is delayed than the video of playback device.

  • When enjoying video contents, the video and audio output may not be synchronised.
    • - Setting LAPC to "Off" may improve it.
    • - Refer to the operating instructions of the video device.

Please tell me the contents displaying on the main unit's display during playback.

  • In case of input source is DMP, DMR, AirPlay, Spotify, TIDAL or USB, press [INFO] button to display the track, artist, and album names, file type, sampling frequency, and other information.

The USB drive or its contents cannot be read.

  • The USB drive format or its contents is/are not compatible with the unit.

  • Disconnect the USB device and then reconnect it. Alternatively, turn the unit to standby and on again.

Slow operation of the USB flash drive.

  • Large file size or high memory USB flash drive takes longer time to read.
  • It may take some time if there are a lot of files or folders on it.

Cannot display the information properly.

  • Track names, etc. may not be displayed properly.

iPhone/iPad/iPod

Cannot operate.

  • Select "USB" as the input source.
  • Check that the iPhone/iPad/iPod is connected properly.
  • The battery of the iPhone/iPad/iPod is depleted. Charge the iPhone/iPad/iPod, and then operate again.
  • Connect the iPhone/iPad/iPod again or try to restart the iPhone/iPad/iPod.

iPhone/iPad/iPod does not charge.

  • Only when unit is ON will charging begin from USB cable connection.
  • Make sure the unit is turned on when you start charging.
    – When charging an iPhone/iPad/iPod whose battery is depleted, do not turn this unit to standby mode until the iPhone/iPad/iPod becomes operational.

Bluetooth®

Pairing cannot be completed.

  • Check the Bluetooth® device condition.

The device cannot be connected.

  • The pairing of the device was unsuccessful or the registration has been replaced. Try repairing the device.
  • This unit might be connected to a different device. Disconnect the other device and try repairing the device.

The device is connected, but audio cannot be heard through this unit.

  • For some built-in Bluetooth® devices, you have to set the audio output to "SU-G30" manually. Read the operating instructions for the device for details.

The sound is interrupted.

  • The device is out of the 10 m communication range. Bring the Bluetooth® device closer to this system.
  • Remove any obstacle between this system and the device.
  • Other devices that use the 2.4 GHz frequency band (wireless router, microwaves, cordless phones, etc.) are interfering. Bring the Bluetooth® device closer to this system and distance it from the other devices.
  • Select "Mode 1" for stable communication.

PC

The PC does not recognise this unit.

  • Check your operating environment.
  • Restart the PC, turn this unit to standby and on, and then reconnect the USB cable.
  • Use another USB port of the connected PC.
  • Install the dedicated USB driver if using a PC with Windows.

Cannot play music stored on the PC.

  • This unit does not guarantee playback with all music player applications. Use the dedicated app "Technics Audio Player for Windows / Mac". For information of Technics Audio Player for Windows / Mac, refer to the following website.

Network

Cannot connect to the network.

  • Confirm the network connection and settings.
  • If the network is set to be invisible, make the network visible while you set up the network for this unit or make a wired LAN connection.
  • This system's Wi-Fi security supports WPA2™. Your wireless router must therefore be WPA2™ compatible. For details on the security supported by your router and how to change the settings, please refer to the operating instructions or contact your internet service provider.
  • Depending on the compatible device, this unit may not be connected to the network.
    If the network setup screen is not displayed on the Android device even if "http://192.168.1.12/" is input, set the Android device to the airplane mode. Then, set the Wi-Fi setting to On, and make the network connection setting again on the setting menu of this unit.
  • Make sure that the multicast function on the wireless router is enabled.
  • Depending on the router, WPS button may not work. Try other methods.
  • The wireless LAN environment or radio interference in your area may cause connection problem. In this case, try another connection method. If the problem persists, make a wired LAN connection.
  • While the AC mains lead is disconnected, the LAN cable must be connected or disconnected.
  • "For Europe": This unit can be connected only to channels 36, 40, 44 and 48 in the 5 GHz band. Set the channel of your wireless broadband router to any of 36, 40, 44 or 48. For how to set the wireless broadband router, refer to the operating instructions of the router.
  • "For North America": This unit can be connected only to channels 36, 38, 40, 44, 46, 48, 149, 151, 153, 157, 159, 161 and 165 in the 5 GHz band. Set the channel of your wireless broadband router to any of 36, 38, 40, 44, 46, 48, 149, 151, 153, 157, 159, 161 or 165. For how to set the wireless broadband router, refer to the operating instructions of the router.

Cannot select this system as the output speakers.

  • Make sure that the devices are connected to the same network as this system.
  • Reconnect the devices to the network.
  • Turn the wireless router off and then on.
  • Turn this unit to standby and on, and then select this system as the output speakers again.

Playback does not start.
The sound is interrupted.

  • Try to place the speakers further away from this unit.
  • If using the 2.4 GHz band on the wireless router, simultaneous use with other 2.4 GHz devices, such as microwaves, cordless telephones, etc., may result in connection interruptions. Increase the distance between this unit and these devices.
    - If your wireless router supports 5 GHz band, try using the 5 GHz band. To change to the 5 GHz band, redo the network settings using an internet browser and then make sure to select your network name (SSID) for the 5 GHz band.
  • Do not place this system inside a metal cabinet, for it might block the Wi-Fi signal.
  • If the playback stops, check the playback status on the device.
  • Place this system closer to the wireless router.
  • Check the Wi-Fi signal strength using "Signal Level" and adjust location of this unit and the wireless router.
  • If several wireless devices are simultaneously using the same wireless network as this unit, try turning off the other devices or reducing their wireless network usage.
  • Reconnect the devices to the network.
  • Turn the wireless router off and then on.
  • With some iOS and iTunes versions, it may not be possible to restart the AirPlay playback if the selector is changed or this unit is in standby mode, during the AirPlay playback. In this case, select a different device from the AirPlay icon of the Music App or iTunes and then re-select this system as the output speakers.
  • Depending on the network condition, playback may not be done properly.
  • Depending on the internet environment or the network congestion, sound may be interrupted or it may take time for playback to start.
  • If the above solutions do not solve the problem, make a wired LAN connection for all connected DLNA compatible devices which have LAN terminal (this unit, Network Attached Storage, DLNA server, etc.).

The DLNA server and its contents are not displayed.

  • The connected DLNA server and its contents may not be displayed properly depending on its condition. (e.g. soon after adding the contents to the server, etc.). Try again later. For details, refer to the operating instructions of the DLNA server.

Cannot find music files stored on the PC.

  • When you play back music files over a network, those that are not registered to its network server are not displayed. For details, refer to the operating instructions for your server.

Cannot display the information properly.

  • Track names, etc. may not be displayed properly.

NAS

Playback does not start.

  • Please confirm the update information of NAS.
  • When transcode setting is available, please try to select other settings.

vTuner/Spotify/TIDAL

Playback does not start.
The sound is interrupted.

  • The station that does not broadcast cannot be played back. (It will be skipped or return to the list.)
  • Internet Radio may not be played back depending on the broadcasting method.
  • Depending on the network condition, playback may not be done properly.
  • Depending on the internet environment or the network congestion, sound may be interrupted or it may take time for playback to start.
  • Internet Radio is an audio broadcasting service transmitted via the Internet. Depending on the broadcaster or condition of the transmitting, the sound quality may vary.
  • Some Internet Radio stations may not be played back due to the restrictions of the country or area.
  • The network service may be suspended or be otherwise unavailable without notice.
  • Change TIDAL sound quality setting for "Settings" of "Technics Music App". The performance may be improved.
  • Video contents of TIDAL cannot be played back.

Cannot display the information properly.

  • If no information appears, press [INFO] several times to display it. The information of the MQA source file currently being played can be displayed on the unit. The sampling frequency displayed with the MQA authentication status is the original sampling frequency used in the mastering process.
  • MQA files or streams may not be decoded to deliver the master quality audio depending on the output setting of the device connected to digital audio input terminal of this unit.
    - When connecting Technics SU-R1/ST-C700/ST-C700D, set the Direct mode of SU-R1/ST-C700/ST-C700D to "On".
    - When connecting the other digital audio device, refer to the operating instructions of the connected device or the music player application. (Please output MQA sound source without audio signal processing.)

Remote control

The remote control does not work properly.

  • The batteries are depleted or inserted incorrectly.
  • To avoid interference, please do not put any objects in front of signal sensor.

  • Connect this unit to the network and then wait for the start of the Firmware Update via Internet.

  • The firmware download has failed. Press any button to exit. Please try again later.
  • The server cannot be found. Press any button to exit. Make sure that the network is connected to the internet.

"Empty"

  • The selected folder is empty. Move tracks into the folder and retry the operation.

  • No Internet Radio station is registered to the favourite list. Add a station to the list.

  • Incorrect operation is performed. Read the instructions and try again.

"Fail"

  • Network connection is not complete. Try the setting again.

"Firmware update is available"

  • The firmware (free of charge) for this unit is available.
    1. Press [OK].
    2. Press [ up ], [ down ] to select "Yes" and then press [OK].
      • - The progress is displayed as "Updating □%" while updating. ( □ stands for a number.)
      • - Do not disconnect the AC mains lead or turn this unit to standby while updating.
      • - When the update has finished successfully, "Success" is displayed.
    3. Disconnect the AC mains lead and reconnect it after 3 minutes.

"F□□" ("□" stands for a number.)

  • There is a problem with this unit.
    - Is the volume extremely high? If so, lower the volume.
    - Is this unit placed in an extremely hot place? If so, move this unit to a cooler place and wait a few moments and then try to turn it on again.
    If the problem persists, write down the displayed number, disconnect the AC mains lead and consult your dealer.

"Load Fail"

  • The firmware on the USB flash memory cannot be found.
  • Download the latest firmware on the USB flash memory and try again.

"Login Error"

  • The connection to vTuner has failed.
    - Confirm the network connection and settings.
    - Select a different audio source and then select Internet Radio again.

"No Device"

  • No USB device is connected.
  • Connect the USB device to be played.

"No Network Available"

  • This unit is not connected to the network.
  • Check the network connection.

"Not Measured"

  • Measuring the output signal has not been done yet.
  • Measure the output signal.

"Not Valid"

  • The function you have tried to use is not available with the current settings. Check the steps and settings.

"Operate via App"

  • Operate via Technics Music App.

"Please Wait"

  • This is displayed, for example, when this unit is turned to standby/on. (For up to approx. 1 minute and 30 seconds)
    The display time may vary depending on its condition.

"Remote □" ("□" stands for a number.)

  • The remote control and this unit are using different codes.
    Change the code on the remote control.

"Remote Mode"

  • Basic playback control buttons on the remote control are not available. (While playing back music stored on the DLNA server with this unit (DMR), etc.)
  • Use the connected device (smartphone, tablet, etc.) for basic playback control.
  • If you want to operate from the main unit or the remote control (playing back music stored on the DLNA server with this unit (DMP), etc.), please switch the input source again from the main unit or the remote control.

"Searching"

  • The unit is checking the DLNA server on the network.

"Signal Overflow"

  • The audio from the analogue audio input terminals in use is distorted. Select "Attenuator(LINE)" or "Attenuator (PHONO)" according to the selected analogue audio input, and change the setting of the attenuator to "On".

GENERAL QUESTIONS

The unit does not work.

  • One of the unit's safety devices may have been activated.
    1. Press [] on the unit to switch the unit to standby.
      • If the unit does not switch to standby, press [] on the unit for at least 5 seconds. The unit is forcibly switched to standby.
      • Alternatively, disconnect the AC mains lead, wait for at least 3 minutes, then reconnect it.
    2. Press [] on the unit to switch on. If the unit still cannot be operated, consult the dealer.

A "humming" sound can be heard during playback.

  • An AC mains lead or fluorescent light is near the cables. Keep other appliances and cords away from the cables of this unit.
  • A strong magnetic field near a TV or other device may adversely affect the audio quality. Keep this unit away from such devices.
  • The speakers may output noise when a device nearby is emitting powerful radio waves, such as when a mobile phone is on a call.

No sound.

  • Adjust the volume of the connected devise (amplifier, etc.).
  • Check to see if the cable connections to the input and output terminals are incorrect. If this is the case, turn off this unit and reconnect the cables correctly.
  • Insert the plugs of the cables to be connected all the way in.

Playback does not start.

  • Depending on your environment or connected devices, it may take some time.

The settings are reset to the factory defaults.

  • Updating the firmware may reset the settings.

This unit turns off suddenly.

  • If the SSD is removed or malfunctions while this unit is in operation, this unit will turn off automatically. Check to see if the SSD is attached correctly to the main unit.
  • If this unit still turns off even after you have attached the SSD correctly, there may be a malfunction with the SSD.

  • Depending on your environment, the audio may be interrupted during playback. Check the operating instructions of the connected device and the connection to the device.

What device models support connection to this server?

Disc

Recording does not start.

  • Make sure that the disc is compatible with this unit.
  • There is moisture on the lens. Wait for about an hour and then try again.
  • Recording to unfinalized CD-R and CD-RW discs is not possible.
  • WMA/MP3 is not supported.

Network

Cannot connect to the network.

  • Confirm the network connection and settings.
  • Make sure that the multicast function on the wireless router is enabled.
  • Make sure that the devices, smartphone and tablet are connected to the same network as this system.
  • Turn off and on the network connection of the smartphone, tablet or connected device, and reconnect it to this unit.

Playback does not start.
The sound is interrupted.

  • If the signal is interrupted, changing the location and angle of the broadband router may improve the signal reception of the connected device.
  • If several wireless devices are simultaneously using the same wireless network as this unit, try turning off the other devices or reducing their wireless network usage.
  • If playback has stopped, check the playback status on the smartphone, tablet or connected device.

USB

This unit does not recognize the USB connection correctly.

  • Check to see if another device can detect your USB device.
  • If you connect USB HDD to this unit, use the USB cable that is supplied with the HDD.

The USB device responds slowly.

  • Large-capacity USB devices may respond slowly.

SSD

The SSD is not detected.

  • Check to see if the SSD is attached correctly.

The STATUS indicator is flashing red.

  • When you replaced the SSD, you might have forgotten to format the new one. Before using a new SSD, be sure to format it on this unit.

Technics Music App

Sound is interrupted during playback.

  • Confirm that the LAN speed has been set to [Automatic (up to 1Gbps)].
    ( [ST-G30 Menu] > Device selection > [Settings] > [LAN speed] )

Cannot record from a CD.

  • CDs that cannot be used:
    - CDs with irregular shapes, such as heart shapes (Use of such CDs may cause malfunction.)
  • CDs that are not guaranteed to operate:
    - Discs with illegally copied data and those that do not conform to industry standards
    - DualDiscs (Discs that record data such as music and images on both sides)
  • Supported disc formats:
    Commercially available CDs (CD-DA) OK
    CD-R/CD-RW (CD-DA) OK
    CD-R/CD-RW (MP3) NG
    CD-R/CD-RW (WMA) NG

The title or artist information cannot be obtained from Gracenote®. /
Information cannot be obtained even if tapping [Title Acquisition].

  • Obtaining the information requires the router to be connected to the Internet.
    Only the information of the tracks recorded from CDs can be obtained.
    If the information is not present on the Gracenote® database, it cannot be obtained.
    If the information cannot be obtained, use the editing function to change the titles, artist names, etc.

Tracks stored by recording or importing are not displayed.

  • It may take some time to register the stored tracks.
    When writing is being performed from the PC simultaneously, wait until the writing is completed, and then check the display.

Your ST-G30 is not displayed on the device selection screen.

  • Depending on the usage environment, it may take some time to display.
    Confirm that your device and ST-G30 are connected on the same network.
    Check if ST-G30 is turned on.
    Restart the application.
    If the problem persists, reset ST-G30 to the factory defaults. For the reset method, see the operating instructions supplied with ST-G30.

Cannot be changed to an image stored on tablet or smartphone if changing the album art.

  • If your device is earlier than Android 5.0, it cannot be changed to an image stored on your device. It can be changed only to a new picture taken on the spot.

Edited or deleted tracks are not applied on the display.

  • Depending on the usage environment (10,000 or more of tracks are stored in ST-G30, etc.), it may take some time to apply the change.
    If the change is not applied, return to the home screen, and operate again.

Downloading does not start from Technics Tracks.

  • Downloading the tracks requires the router to be connected to the Internet.
    You cannot re-download tracks that were once downloaded even if deleted.
    Tracks may not be downloaded unless the clock built in ST-G30 is accurate. Confirm that the time on your device is accurate, and synchronize the time. (Tap [ST-G30 Menu] > Device selection > [Settings] > [Date and time], and set to [On].)

[ST-G30 Menu] is not displayed.

  • Tap [Setup] > [ST-G30 Menu Display Settings], and select [Display On].

The icon of [ST-G30 Menu] is not displayed on the home screen.

  • Depending on your device, the icon of [ST-G30 Menu] may be out of the screen due to the visible area. Move the other icons up so the icon of [ST-G30 Menu] can be displayed.

The application is not responsive.

  • Restart your device.

Stereo Integrated Amplifier/ SU-G700

The unit does not work.
Operations are not done properly.

  • Playback of multi-channel content is not supported.
  • The digital audio input terminals of this unit can only detect linear PCM signals. For details, refer to the operating instructions of the device.

Sound is distorted.

  • Setting "Attenuator" to "On" according to the analog audio input may minimize the sound distortion.
  • Setting the attenuator is not available for the output audio signal from LINE OUT terminal.

The volume is automatically changed.

  • When the input source is switched to "LINE2" or other source from "MAIN IN" and the current volume level is higher than previous level, the volume is automatically adjusted. (Volume knob automatically turns.)

The unit turns to standby mode automatically.

  • I s the auto off function turned on?
  • This unit incorporates a protection circuit to prevent damage caused by heat buildup. When you use this unit at a high volume level for a long period of time, it may turn off automatically. Wait for this unit to cool down before turning on this unit again. (For approximately 3 minutes)

The settings are reset to the factory defaults.

  • Updating the firmware may reset the settings.

The peak power meter does not operate.

  • When enjoying video contents, the video and audio output may not be synchronised.
    • In the following cases, this meter does not operate:
      - When the headphones are connected.
      - When the peak power meter light is turned off by pressing [DIMMER].
      - When this unit is muted by pressing [MUTE].
      - When "PRE OUT" is set to "On (Speaker:Off)".

The system control function is not working.

  • Use the system connection cable supplied with the connected device.
  • Connect the system connection cable to the system terminals (CONTROL).
  • Check the connection of system connection cable, audio cable and the input source which is set with "System Control".
  • Connect Technics device supporting system control function (Network Audio Player, Compact Disc Player, etc.) to this unit.

  • Check your operating environment.
  • Restart the PC, turn this unit to standby and on, and then reconnect the USB cable.
  • Use another USB port of the connected PC.
  • Install the dedicated USB driver if using a PC with Windows.

Remote control

The remote control does not work properly.

PHONES Connected

  • The headphones are connected.

  • Reconnect the compatible device to the network and then connect to this unit again.
  • Set "Network Standby" in the setup menu to "Off" , turn this unit off and on, and then connect to this unit again.

Playback does not start.
The sound is interrupted.

  • Simultaneous use with other 2.4 GHz devices, such as microwaves, cordless telephones, etc., may result in connection interruptions. Increase the distance between the wireless router and these devices.
  • If several wireless devices are simultaneously using the same wireless network as this unit, try turning off the other devices or reducing their wireless network usage.
  • If the playback stops, check the playback status on the device.

Cannot find music files stored on the PC.

When you play back music files over a network, those that are not registered to its network server are not displayed. Whether or not each music file can be played back over your network is determined by the network server even if the format of the file is supported by this unit. For example, if you are using Windows Media® Player 11, not all music files on the PC are playable. You can play back only those added to the library of Windows Media® Player 11.

Cannot display the information properly.

  • Track names, etc. may not be displayed properly.

NAS

Playback does not start.

  • Please confirm the update information of NAS.
  • When transcode setting is available, please try to select other settings.

iPhone/iPad/iPod

Cannot operate.

  • Select "USB" as the input source.
  • Check that the iPhone/iPad/iPod is connected properly.
  • Connect the iPhone/iPad/iPod again or try to restart the iPhone/iPad/iPod.
  • The battery of the iPhone/iPad/iPod is depleted. Charge the iPhone/iPad/iPod, and then operate again.

iPhone/iPad/iPod does not charge.

Make sure the unit is turned on when you start charging.
– When charging an iPhone/iPad/iPod whose battery is depleted, do not turn this unit to standby mode until the iPhone/iPad/iPod becomes operational.

USB

The USB drive or its contents cannot be read.

The USB drive format or its contents is/are not compatible with the unit.

No response when [ play / pause ] is pressed.

Disconnect the USB device and then reconnect it. Alternatively, turn the unit off and on again.

Slow operation of the USB flash drive.

Large file size or high memory USB flash drive takes longer time to read.

Cannot display the information properly.

  • Track names, etc. may not be displayed properly.

PC

The PC does not recognise this unit.

  • Check your operating environment.
  • Restart the PC, turn off and on this unit, and then reconnect the USB cable.
  • Use another USB port of the connected PC.
  • Install the dedicated USB driver if using a PC with Windows.

Cannot play music stored on the PC.

  • This unit does not guarantee playback with all music player applications. Use the dedicated app "Technics Audio Player for Windows / Mac". For information of Technics Audio Player for Windows / Mac, refer to the following website.

Bluetooth®

Pairing cannot be completed.

Check the Bluetooth® device condition.

The device cannot be connected.

  • The pairing of the device was unsuccessful or the registration has been replaced. Try re-pairing the device.
  • This unit might be connected to a different device. Disconnect the other device and try re-pairing the device.

The device is connected, but audio cannot be heard through this unit.

  • For some built-in Bluetooth® devices, you have to set the audio output to "ST-C700" manually. Read the operating instructions for the device for details.

NFC is not working.

  • Make sure the NFC feature of the device are turned on.
  • When you try again, change the angle at which the Bluetooth® device touches the NFC touch area.
  • Turn on the NFC feature of this unit when you connect a device using NFC.
    Preparation
    • Turn on the NFC feature of the device.
      1. Press [NWP].
      2. Press [> INPUT <] below [NWP] repeatedly to select "Bluetooth".
      3. Press [MENU].
      4. Press [ up ][ down ] repeatedly to select "NFC" and then press [OK].
      5. Press [ up ][ down ] to select "Yes" and then press [OK].
      6. Touch and hold your device on the NFC touch area of this unit within 20 seconds.
    • Do not move the Bluetooth® device until it displays a message or reacts in some way.
      Once the Bluetooth® device has reacted, move the device away from this unit.
      • – When the connection of the Bluetooth® device is complete, the name of the connected device is indicated on the display.
      • – The location of the NFC touch area differs depending on the device. When a connection cannot be established even if your Bluetooth® device has touched the NFC touch area of this unit, change the position of the device.

Radio

Reception is poor or a beat sound is heard.

  • Keep the antenna away from computers, TVs, other cables and cords.
  • Use an outdoor antenna.

Remote control

The remote control does not work properly.

  • To avoid interference, please do not put any objects in front of signal sensor.
  • Change the remote control code if other products react to this remote control.
    • - Point the remote control at this unit, and press and hold [OK] and the numeric button [1] or [2] for at least 4 seconds.
    • - When the remote control code is changed, the new code will appear on the display for a few seconds.
  • If the SU-C700/SL-C700 is selected for the device to be operated, press [NWP] and retry the operation.

Pressing [DIMMER] changes the display, the light and the indicator brightness of the SU-C700/SL-C700.

[DIMMER] works for the SU-C700/SL-C700 as well as this unit. Turn off the device that you want to maintain the brightness level of, and press [DIMMER].

Messages
The following messages or service numbers may appear on the unit’s display.

"AUTO OFF"

The unit has been left unused for about 20 minutes and will shut down within a minute. Press any button to cancel it.

"Checking Connection"

The unit is checking the connected iPhone/iPad/iPod or a USB device.

"Download Error"

  • The firmware download has failed. Press any button to exit. Please try again later.
  • The server cannot be found. Press any button to exit. Make sure that the network is connected to the Internet.

"Empty"

  • The selected folder is empty. Move tracks into the folder and retry the operation.
  • The server is not found on the network. Check to see if the server is connected to the same network as this unit, and retry the connection to this unit.

"Error"

Incorrect operation is performed. Read the instructions and try again.

"F□□" ("□" stands for a number.)

There is a problem with this unit.
– Is the volume extremely high? If so, lower the volume.
– Is this unit placed in an extremely hot place? If so, move this unit to a cooler place and wait a few moments and then try to turn it on again.
If the problem persists, write down the displayed number, disconnect the AC mains lead and consult your dealer.

"No Network Connection"

This unit is not connected to the network. Check the network connection.

"No Memory"

There are no preset DAB/DAB+ stations to select. Preset some channels.

"No Signal"

This station cannot be received. Check your antenna.

"Not Conditional"

The function you have tried to use is not available with the current settings. Check the steps and settings.

"PGM Full"

The number of programmed tracks is more than 24.

"Please Wait"

This is displayed, for example, when this unit is turned on/off. (For up to 1 minute and 30 seconds)

"Remote□" ("□" stands for a number.)

The remote control and this unit are using different codes. Change the code on the remote control.
– When "Remote 1" is displayed, press and hold [OK] and [1] for at least 4 seconds.
– When "Remote 2" is displayed, press and hold [OK] and [2] for at least 4 seconds.

"Scan Failed"

Stations are not receivable. Check your antenna and try Auto scanning. If "Scan Failed" is still displayed, find the best signal reception with the "Manual Scan" tuning function.

"Searching"

The unit is checking the DLNA server on the network.

"Unlocked"

  • "PC" is selected, but a PC is not connected. Check the connection with the PC.
  • Audio signals, such as sampling frequency components, are not input correctly.
    – About supported format, refer to "File format" in the operating instructions.

"USB Over Current Error"

The iPhone/iPad/iPod or USB device is drawing too much power. Disconnect the iPhone/iPad/iPod or USB device and turn the unit off and on again.

"Hub Device Not Supported","Unrecognizable Device","Unsupported","Unsupported USB Device"

  • You have connected an iPhone/iPad/iPod or USB device that is not supported.
    – If the iPhone/iPad/iPod is compatible, turn it on and connect it correctly.
  • The format of the file on the iPhone/iPad/iPod or USB device is not supported.
    – About supported format, refer to "File format" in the operating instructions.

Network Audio Player / ST-C700D

GENERAL QUESTIONS

The unit does not work.
Operations are not done properly.

  • One of the unit's safety devices, etc. may have been activated.
    1. Lower the power switch lever of this unit to the [OFF] position.
      • Alternatively, disconnect the AC mains lead, wait for at least 3 minutes, then reconnect it.
    2. Raise the power switch lever of this unit to the [] position. If the unit still cannot be operated, consult the dealer.

A "humming" sound can be heard during playback.

  • An AC mains lead or fluorescent light is near the cables. Keep other appliances and cords away from the cables of this unit.

No sound.

  • Check the volume of the connected device (amplifier, etc.).
  • Check to see if the cable connections to the input and output terminals are incorrect. If this is the case, turn off this unit and reconnect the cables correctly.
  • Check to see if the correct input source is selected.
  • Insert the plugs of the cables to be connected all the way in.
  • When "Digital Output" and "Analog Output" are set to "Off", no sound will be output. Change the setting of the output terminal to be used to "On".
  • Playback of multi-channel content is not supported.

The sound is interrupted.

  • Depending on your environment, the audio may be interrupted during playback. Check the operating instructions of the connected device and the connection to the device.

Playback does not start.

  • Depending on your environment or connected devices, it may take some time.

  • Internet Radio is an audio broadcasting service transmitted via the Internet. Depending on the broadcaster or condition of the transmitting, the sound quality may vary.
  • Some Internet Radio stations may not be played back due to the restrictions of the country or area.
  • The network service may be suspended or be otherwise unavailable without notice.
  • Change TIDAL sound quality setting for "Settings" of "Technics Music App". The performance may be improved.
  • Video contents of TIDAL cannot be played back.

Cannot display the information properly.

  • Station names, countries, regions, genres, track names, album names, etc. which are managed by vTuner/Spotify/TIDAL, may not be displayed properly depending on the broadcasting information.
  • Depending on the internet environment or the network congestion, the information may not be displayed or it may take time to be displayed.

Cannot find stations.
Cannot play registered stations on this unit and listed stations with PC.

  • The Internet Radio stations, genre, region, etc. on this unit are edited and managed by vTuner. The stations on the list of vTuner may be changed without notice.
  • The Internet Radio service may be suspended or be otherwise unavailable without notice.

Cannot display an album art of TIDAL on the dedicated app "Technics Music App".

  • Update this unit to the latest firmware. It may be displayed.

How to play back TIDAL Masters.

MQA files or streams cannot be decoded to deliver the master quality audio.

  • Check to see if the current played source is MQA file or stream.
  • If no information appears, press [INFO] several times to display it. The information of the MQA source file currently being played can be displayed on the unit. The sampling frequency displayed with the MQA authentication status is the original sampling frequency used in the mastering process.
  • MQA files or streams may not be decoded to deliver the master quality audio depending on the output setting of the device connected to digital audio input terminal (PC) of this unit. Refer to the operating instructions of the connected device or the music player application. (Please output MQA sound source without audio signal processing.)

  • Stations are not receivable. Check your antenna and try Auto scanning.
    If "Scan Failed" is still displayed, find the best signal reception with the "Manual Scan" tuning function.

"Searching"

The unit turns off automatically.

  • Is the auto off function turned on?
  • If the SU-C700 is connected to this unit via the system control function, this unit may automatically enter standby mode when the SU-C700 enters standby mode.

Disc

Incorrect display or play does not start.

  • Make sure that the disc is compatible with this unit.
  • There is moisture on the lens. Wait for about an hour and then try again.
  • Unfinalised CD-R and CD-RW cannot be played back.
  • This unit sometime fails to read a multi-session disc with short session. Use single-session disc (disc at once)

Playback takes time to start.

  • It may take some time for the disc to load if there are a lot of tracks or folders on it.

Audio track does not playback in Mixed Mode CD.

  • This unit only supports data track of Mixed Mode CD.

Remote control

The remote control does not work properly.

  • To avoid interference, please do not put any objects in front of signal sensor.
  • Change the remote control code if other products react to this remote control.
    - Point the remote at this unit, and press and hold [OK] and the numeric button [1] or [2] for a few seconds.
    - When the remote control code is changed, the new code will appear on the display for a few seconds.
  • If the SU-C700/ST-C700/ST-C700D is selected for the device to be operated, press [CD] and retry the operation.
  • When this unit and the SU-C700 are connected with an audio cable, switch the input of the SU-C700 to "LINE".

Pressing [DIMMER] changes the display, the light and the indicator brightness of the SU-C700/ST-C700/ST-C700D.

  • [Dimmer] works for the SU-C700/ST-C700/ST-C700D as well as this unit. Turn off the device that you want to maintain the brightness level of, and press [DIMMER].

When press the [NWP] or [CD] button on remote control, SU-C700 is switched to unintended selector.

  • Press [>INPUT<] below [AMP] repeatedly to select intended selector.

Messages
The following messages or service numbers may appear on the unit’s display.

"Full"

  • The number of programmed tracks is more than 25.

"Not Conditional"

  • The function you have tried to use is not available with the current settings. Check the steps and settings.

"No Disc"

  • Insert the disc to be played.

"No File"

  • Insert the disc played.
  • Insert a disc that has MP3/WMA files on it.

"No Play"

  • A CD that is not in CD-DA, MP3 or WMA format is inserted. It cannot be played.
  • Examine the content. You can only play supported format.

"Reading"

  • The unit is checking the CD information. After this display has disappeared, start operating.

"Remote□" ("□" stands for a number.)

  • The remote control and this unit are using different codes. Change the code on the remote control.
    - When "Remote Mode 1" is displayed, press and hold [OK] and [1] for at least 4 seconds.
    - When "Remote Mode 2" is displayed, press and hold [OK] and [2] for at least 4 seconds.

  • The display time is over 99 minutes and 59 seconds.

CD Stereo System / OTTAVA™ SC-C500

GENERAL QUESTIONS

A "humming" sound can be heard during playback.

  • An AC mains lead or fluorescent light is near the cables. Keep other appliances and cords away from the cables of this unit.
  • A strong magnetic field near a TV or other device may adversely affect the audio quality. Keep this unit away from such devices.
  • The speakers may output noise when a device nearby is emitting powerful radio waves, such as when a mobile phone is on a call.

The unit does not work.

  • One of the unit's safety devices, etc. may have been activated.
    1. Press [] on the unit to switch the unit to standby.
      • If the unit does not switch to standby, press [] on the unit for at least 5 seconds. The unit is forcibly switched to standby.
      • Alternatively, disconnect the AC mains lead, wait for at least 3 minutes, then reconnect it.
    2. Press [] on the unit to switch on. If the unit still cannot be operated, consult the dealer.

No sound.

  • Check the volume of this unit.
  • Check to see if the cable connections to the input and output terminals are incorrect. If this is the case, turn this unit to standby and reconnect the cables correctly.
  • Check to see if the correct input source is selected.
  • Insert the plugs of the cables to be connected all the way in.
  • Playback of multi-channel content is not supported.
  • The digital audio input terminals of this unit can only detect linear PCM signals. For details, refer to the operating instructions of the device.

Playback does not start.

  • Depending on your environment or connected devices, it may take some time.
  • Check to see if the format of the file is supported. About supported format, refer to "File format".

  • Large file size or high memory USB flash drive takes longer time to read.
  • It may take some time if there are a lot of files or folders on it.

Cannot display the information properly.

  • Track names, etc. may not be displayed properly.

iPhone/iPad/iPod

Cannot operate.

  • Select "USB" as the input source.
  • Check that the iPhone/iPad/iPod is connected properly.
  • The battery of the iPhone/iPad/iPod is depleted. Charge the iPhone/iPad/iPod, and then operate again.
  • Connect the iPhone/iPad/iPod again or try to restart the iPhone/iPad/iPod.

iPhone/iPad/iPod does not charge.

  • Only when unit is ON will charging begin from USB cable connection.
  • Make sure the unit is turned on when you start charging.
    – When charging an iPhone/iPad/iPod whose battery is depleted, do not turn this unit to standby mode until the iPhone/iPad/iPod becomes operational.

Bluetooth®

Pairing cannot be completed.

  • Check the Bluetooth® device condition.

The device cannot be connected.

  • The pairing of the device was unsuccessful or the registration has been replaced. Try repairing the device.
  • This unit might be connected to a different device. Disconnect the other device and try repairing the device.

The device is connected, but audio cannot be heard through this unit.

  • For some built-in Bluetooth® devices, you have to set the audio output to "SC-C500" manually. Read the operating instructions for the device for details.

The sound is interrupted.

  • The device is out of the 10 m communication range. Bring the Bluetooth® device closer to this system.
  • Remove any obstacle between this system and the device.
  • Other devices that use the 2.4 GHz frequency band (wireless router, microwaves, cordless phones, etc.) are interfering. Bring the Bluetooth® device closer to this system and distance it from the other devices.
  • Select "Mode 1" for stable communication.

PC

The PC does not recognise this unit.

  • Check your operating environment.
  • Restart the PC, turn this unit to standby and on, and then reconnect the USB cable.
  • Use another USB port of the connected PC.
  • Install the dedicated USB driver if using a PC with Windows.

Cannot play music stored on the PC.

  • This unit does not guarantee playback with all music player applications. Use the dedicated app "Technics Audio Player for Windows / Mac". For information of Technics Audio Player for Windows / Mac, refer to the following website.

Network

Cannot connect to the network.

  • Confirm the network connection and settings.
  • If the network is set to be invisible, make the network visible while you set up the network for this unit or make a wired LAN connection.
  • This system's Wi-Fi security supports WPA2™. Your wireless router must therefore be WPA2™ compatible. For details on the security supported by your router and how to change the settings, please refer to the operating instructions or contact your internet service provider.
  • Depending on the compatible device, this unit may not be connected to the network.
    If the network setup screen is not displayed on the Android device even if "http://192.168.1.12/" is input, set the Android device to the airplane mode. Then, set the Wi-Fi setting to On, and make the network connection setting again on the setting menu of this unit.
  • Make sure that the multicast function on the wireless router is enabled.
  • Depending on the router, WPS button may not work. Try other methods.
  • The wireless LAN environment or radio interference in your area may cause connection problem. In this case, try another connection method. If the problem persists, make a wired LAN connection.
  • While the AC mains lead is disconnected, the LAN cable must be connected or disconnected.
  • "For Europe": This unit can be connected only to channels 36, 40, 44 and 48 in the 5 GHz band. Set the channel of your wireless broadband router to any of 36, 40, 44 or 48. For how to set the wireless broadband router, refer to the operating instructions of the router.
  • "For North America": This unit can be connected only to channels 36, 38, 40, 44, 46, 48, 149, 151, 153, 157, 159, 161 and 165 in the 5 GHz band. Set the channel of your wireless broadband router to any of 36, 38, 40, 44, 46, 48, 149, 151, 153, 157, 159, 161 or 165. For how to set the wireless broadband router, refer to the operating instructions of the router.

Cannot select this system as the output speakers.

  • Make sure that the devices are connected to the same network as this system.
  • Reconnect the devices to the network.
  • Turn the wireless router off and then on.
  • Turn this unit to standby and on, and then select this system as the output speakers again.

Playback does not start.
The sound is interrupted.

  • Try to place the speakers further away from this unit.
  • If using the 2.4 GHz band on the wireless router, simultaneous use with other 2.4 GHz devices, such as microwaves, cordless telephones, etc., may result in connection interruptions. Increase the distance between this unit and these devices.
    - If your wireless router supports 5 GHz band, try using the 5 GHz band. To change to the 5 GHz band, redo the network settings using an internet browser and then make sure to select your network name (SSID) for the 5 GHz band.
  • Do not place this system inside a metal cabinet, for it might block the Wi-Fi signal.
  • If the playback stops, check the playback status on the device.
  • Place this system closer to the wireless router.
  • Check the Wi-Fi signal strength using "Signal Level" and adjust location of this unit and the wireless router.
  • If several wireless devices are simultaneously using the same wireless network as this unit, try turning off the other devices or reducing their wireless network usage.
  • Reconnect the devices to the network.
  • Turn the wireless router off and then on.
  • With some iOS and iTunes versions, it may not be possible to restart the AirPlay playback if the selector is changed (e.g. "CD") or this unit is in standby mode, during the AirPlay playback. In this case, select a different device from the AirPlay icon of the Music App or iTunes and then re-select this system as the output speakers.
  • If the above solutions do not solve the problem, make a wired LAN connection for all connected DLNA compatible devices which have LAN terminal (this unit, Network Attached Storage, DLNA server, etc.).

The DLNA server and its contents are not displayed.

  • The connected DLNA server and its contents may not be displayed properly depending on its condition. (e.g. soon after adding the contents to the server, etc.)

Cannot find music files stored on the PC.

  • When you play back music files over a network, those that are not registered to its network server are not displayed. For details, refer to the operating instructions for your server.

Cannot display the information properly.

NAS

Playback does not start.

  • Please confirm the update information of NAS.
  • When transcode setting is available, please try to select other settings.

vTuner/Spotify/TIDAL

Playback does not start.
The sound is interrupted.

  • The Internet Radio station that does not broadcast cannot be played back. (It will be skipped or return to the list.)
  • Internet Radio may not be played back depending on the broadcasting method.
  • Depending on the network condition, playback may not be done properly.
  • Depending on the internet environment or the network congestion, sound may be interrupted or it may take time for playback to start.
  • Internet Radio is an audio broadcasting service transmitted via the Internet. Depending on the broadcaster or condition of the transmitting, the sound quality may vary.
  • Some Internet Radio stations may not be played back due to the restrictions of the country or area.
  • The network service may be suspended or be otherwise unavailable without notice.
  • Change TIDAL sound quality setting for "Settings" of "Technics Music App". The performance may be improved.
  • Video contents of TIDAL cannot be played back.

Cannot display the information properly.

  • Station names, countries, regions, genres, track names, album names, etc. which are managed by vTuner/Spotify/TIDAL, may not be displayed properly depending on the broadcasting information.
  • Depending on the internet environment or the network congestion, the information may not be displayed or it may take time to be displayed.

Cannot find stations.
Cannot play registered stations on this unit and listed stations with PC.

  • The Internet Radio stations, genre, region, etc. on this unit are edited and managed by vTuner. The stations on the list of vTuner may be changed without notice.
  • The Internet Radio service may be suspended or be otherwise unavailable without notice.

Cannot display an album art of TIDAL on the dedicated app "Technics Music App".

  • Update this unit to the latest firmware. It may be displayed.

"Operate via App" message appears, and Spotify/TIDAL cannot be played.

  • Operate via Technics Music App.

Remote control

The remote control does not work properly.

  • The batteries are depleted or inserted incorrectly.
  • To avoid interference, please do not put any objects in front of signal sensor.

  • The selected folder is empty. Move tracks into the folder and retry the operation.
  • The server is not found on the network. Check to see if the server is connected to the same network as this unit, and retry the connection to this unit.

  • Incorrect operation is performed. Read the instructions and try again.

"Fail"

  • Network connection is not complete. Try the setting again.

"Firmware update is available"

  • The firmware (free of charge) for this unit is available.
    1. Press [OK].
    2. Press [ up ], [ down ] to select "Yes" and then press [OK].
      • - The progress is displayed as "Updating □%" while updating. ( □ stands for a number.)
      • - Do not disconnect the AC mains lead or turn this unit to standby while updating.
      • - When the update has finished successfully, "Success" is displayed.
    3. Disconnect the AC mains lead and reconnect it after 3 minutes.

"Load Fail"

  • The firmware on the USB flash memory cannot be found.
  • Download the latest firmware on the USB flash memory and try again.

"Login Error"

  • The connection to vTuner has failed.
    - Confirm the network connection and settings.
    - Select a different audio source and then select Internet Radio again.

"No Device"

  • No USB device is connected.
  • Connect the USB device to be played.

"No Disc"

  • No CD is inserted.
  • Insert the disc to be played.

"No Network Available"

  • This unit is not connected to the network.

  • The disc cannot be played back.

"Not valid"

  • The function you have tried to use is not available with the current settings. Check the steps and settings.

"Operate via App"

  • Operate via Technics Music App.

"PGM Full"

  • The number of programmed tracks is more than 24.

"Please Wait"

  • This is displayed, for example, when this unit is turned to standby/on. (For up to approx. 1 minute and 30 seconds)
    The display time may vary depending on its condition.

"Reading"

  • The unit is checking the CD information. After this display has disappeared, start operating.

"Remote □" ("□" stands for a number.)

  • The remote control and this unit are using different codes.
    Change the code on the remote control.

"Remote Mode"

  • Basic playback control buttons on the touch panel/remote control are not available. (While playing back music stored on the DLNA server with this unit (DMR), etc.)
  • Use the connected device (smartphone, tablet, etc.) for basic playback control.
  • If you want to operate from the main unit or the remote control (playing back music stored on the DLNA server with this unit (DMP), etc.), please switch the input source again from the main unit or the remote control.

"Searching"

  • The unit is checking the DLNA server on the network.

"Unlocked"

  • "PC" is selected, but a PC is not connected. Check the connection with the PC.
  • The sampling frequency components, etc. of the audio signals are not input correctly.

"USB Over Current Error"

  • The iPhone/iPad/iPod or USB device is drawing too much power. Disconnect the iPhone/iPad/iPod or USB device and turn the unit to standby and on again.

"Hub Device Not Supported/Not Supported/Device Not Recognized/USB Device Not Supported"

  • You have connected an iPhone/iPad/iPod or USB device that is not supported.
    - If the iPhone/iPad/iPod is compatible, turn it on and connect it correctly.
  • The format of the file on the iPhone/iPad/iPod or USB device is not supported.

  • Depending on the compatible device, this unit may not be connected to the network.
    If the network setup screen is not displayed on the Android device even if "http://192.168.1.12/" is input, set the Android device to the airplane mode. Then, set the Wi-Fi setting to On, and make the network connection setting again on the setting menu of this unit.
  • Make sure that the multicast function on the wireless router is enabled.
  • Depending on the router, WPS button may not work. Try other methods.
  • The wireless LAN environment or radio interference in your area may cause connection problem. In this case, try another connection method. If the problem persists, make a wired LAN connection.
  • While the AC mains lead is disconnected, the LAN cable must be connected or disconnected.
  • "For Europe": This unit can be connected only to channels 36, 40, 44 and 48 in the 5 GHz band. Set the channel of your wireless broadband router to any of 36, 40, 44 or 48. For how to set the wireless broadband router, refer to the operating instructions of the router.
  • "For North America": This unit can be connected only to channels 36, 38, 40, 44, 46, 48, 149, 151, 153, 157, 159, 161 and 165 in the 5 GHz band. Set the channel of your wireless broadband router to any of 36, 38, 40, 44, 46, 48, 149, 151, 153, 157, 159, 161 or 165. For how to set the wireless broadband router, refer to the operating instructions of the router.

Cannot select this system as the output speakers.

  • Make sure that the devices are connected to the same network as this system.
  • Reconnect the devices to the network.
  • Turn the wireless router off and then on.
  • Turn this unit to standby and on, and then select this system as the output speakers again.

Playback does not start.
The sound is interrupted.

  • Try to place the speakers further away from this unit.
  • If using the 2.4 GHz band on the wireless router, simultaneous use with other 2.4 GHz devices, such as microwaves, cordless telephones, etc., may result in connection interruptions. Increase the distance between this unit and these devices.
    - If your wireless router supports 5 GHz band, try using the 5 GHz band. To change to the 5 GHz band, redo the network settings using an internet browser and then make sure to select your network name (SSID) for the 5 GHz band.
  • Do not place this system inside a metal cabinet, for it might block the Wi-Fi signal.
  • If the playback stops, check the playback status on the device.
  • Place this system closer to the wireless router.
  • Check the Wi-Fi signal strength using "Signal Level" and adjust location of this unit and the wireless router.
  • If several wireless devices are simultaneously using the same wireless network as this unit, try turning off the other devices or reducing their wireless network usage.
  • Reconnect the devices to the network.
  • Turn the wireless router off and then on.
  • With some iOS and iTunes versions, it may not be possible to restart the AirPlay playback if the selector is changed (e.g. "CD") or this unit is in standby mode, during the AirPlay playback. In this case, select a different device from the AirPlay icon of the Music App or iTunes and then re-select this system as the output speakers.
  • If the above solutions do not solve the problem, make a wired LAN connection for all connected DLNA compatible devices which have LAN terminal (this unit, Network Attached Storage, DLNA server, etc.).

The DLNA server and its contents are not displayed.

  • The connected DLNA server and its contents may not be displayed properly depending on its condition. (e.g. soon after adding the contents to the server, etc.). Try again later. For details, refer to the operating instructions of the DLNA server.

Cannot find music files stored on the PC.

  • When you play back music files over a network, those that are not registered to its network server are not displayed. For details, refer to the operating instructions for your server.

Cannot display the information properly.

  • Track names, etc. may not be displayed properly.

NAS

Playback does not start.

  • Please confirm the update information of NAS.
  • When transcode setting is available, please try to select other settings.

vTuner/Spotify/TIDAL

Playback does not start.
The sound is interrupted.

  • The station that does not broadcast cannot be played back. (It will be skipped or return to the list.)
  • Internet Radio may not be played back depending on the broadcasting method.
  • Depending on the network condition, playback may not be done properly.
  • Depending on the internet environment or the network congestion, sound may be interrupted or it may take time for playback to start.
  • Internet Radio is an audio broadcasting service transmitted via the Internet. Depending on the broadcaster or condition of the transmitting, the sound quality may vary.
  • Some Internet Radio stations may not be played back due to the restrictions of the country or area.
  • The network service may be suspended or be otherwise unavailable without notice.
  • Change TIDAL sound quality setting for "Settings" of "Technics Music App". The performance may be improved.
  • Video contents of TIDAL cannot be played back.

Cannot display the information properly.

  • Station names, countries, regions, genres, track names, album names, etc. which are managed by vTuner/Spotify/TIDAL, may not be displayed properly depending on the broadcasting information.
  • Depending on the internet environment or the network congestion, the information may not be displayed or it may take time to be displayed.

Cannot find stations.
Cannot play registered stations on this unit and listed stations with PC.

  • The Internet Radio stations, genre, region, etc. on this unit are edited and managed by vTuner. The stations on the list of vTuner may be changed without notice.
  • The Internet Radio service may be suspended or be otherwise unavailable without notice.

Cannot display an album art of TIDAL on the dedicated app "Technics Music App".

  • Update this unit to the latest firmware. It may be displayed.

"Operate via App" message appears, and Spotify/TIDAL cannot be played.

  • Operate via Technics Music App.

Remote control

The remote control does not work properly.

  • The batteries are depleted or inserted incorrectly.
  • To avoid interference, please do not put any objects in front of signal sensor.
  • Change the remote control code if other products react to this remote control.

  • Connect this unit to the network and then wait for the start of the Firmware Update via Internet.

  • The firmware download has failed. Press any button to exit. Please try again later.
  • The server cannot be found. Press any button to exit. Make sure that the network is connected to the internet.

"Empty"

  • The selected folder is empty. Move tracks into the folder and retry the operation.
  • The server is not found on the network. Check to see if the server is connected to the same network as this unit, and retry the connection to this unit.

"Error"

  • Incorrect operation is performed. Read the instructions and try again.

"Fail"

  • Network connection is not complete. Try the setting again.

"Firmware update is available"

  • The firmware (free of charge) for this unit is available.
    1. Press [OK].
    2. Press [ up ], [ down ] to select "Yes" and then press [OK].
      • - The progress is displayed as "Updating □%" while updating. ( □ stands for a number.)
      • - Do not disconnect the AC mains lead or turn this unit to standby while updating.
      • - When the update has finished successfully, "Success" is displayed.
    3. Disconnect the AC mains lead and reconnect it after 3 minutes.

"Load Fail"

  • The firmware on the USB flash memory cannot be found.
  • Download the latest firmware on the USB flash memory and try again.

"Login Error"

  • The connection to vTuner has failed.
    - Confirm the network connection and settings.
    - Select a different audio source and then select Internet Radio again.

"No Device"

  • No USB device is connected.
  • Connect the USB device to be played.

"No Disc"

  • No CD is inserted.
  • Insert the disc to be played.

"No Network Available"

  • This unit is not connected to the network.
  • Check the network connection.

"No Play"

  • The disc cannot be played back.
  • Insert the disc to be played.

"Not Measured"

  • Measuring the output signal has not been done yet.
  • Measure the output signal.

"Not Valid"

  • The function you have tried to use is not available with the current settings. Check the steps and settings.

"Operate via App"

  • Operate via Technics Music App.

"PGM Full"

  • The number of programmed tracks is more than 24.

"Please Wait"

  • This is displayed, for example, when this unit is turned to standby/on. (For up to approx. 1 minute and 30 seconds)
    The display time may vary depending on its condition.

"Reading"

  • The unit is checking the CD information. After this display has disappeared, start operating.

"Remote □" ("□" stands for a number.)

  • The remote control and this unit are using different codes.
    Change the code on the remote control.

"Remote Mode"

  • Basic playback control buttons on the touch panel/remote control are not available. (While playing back music stored on the DLNA server with this unit (DMR), etc.)
  • Use the connected device (smartphone, tablet, etc.) for basic playback control.
  • If you want to operate from the main unit or the remote control (playing back music stored on the DLNA server with this unit (DMP), etc.), please switch the input source again from the main unit or the remote control.

"Searching"

  • The unit is checking the DLNA server on the network.

"Unlocked"

  • "PC" is selected, but a PC is not connected. Check the connection with the PC.
  • The sampling frequency components, etc. of the audio signals are not input correctly.

"USB Over Current Error"

  • The iPhone/iPad/iPod or USB device is drawing too much power. Disconnect the iPhone/iPad/iPod or USB device and turn the unit to standby and on again.

"Wi-Fi Setup"

  • Select "On" and press [OK] to enter the network setting.
    - To exit the network setting, select "Off" and press [OK].

"Hub Device Not Supported/Not Supported/Device Not Recognized/USB Device Not Supported"

  • You have connected an iPhone/iPad/iPod or USB device that is not supported.
    - If the iPhone/iPad/iPod is compatible, turn it on and connect it correctly.
  • The format of the file on the iPhone/iPad/iPod or USB device is not supported.
    - About supported format, refer to "File format" (⇒ Operating Instructions)

GENERAL QUESTIONS

The unit does not work.
Operations are not done properly.

  • One of the unit's safety devices, etc. may have been activated.
    1. Press [] on the unit to switch the unit to standby.
      • If the unit does not switch to standby, press [] on the unit for at least 5 seconds. The unit is forcibly switched to standby.
        Alternatively, disconnect the AC mains lead, wait for at least 3 minutes, then reconnect it.
    2. Press [] on the unit to switch on. (It may take some time for this unit to be turned on.)
      • If the unit still cannot be operated, consult the dealer.
  • The remote control may not work properly.
  • The touch switch operation may be disabled. Check the setting.

A "humming" sound can be heard during playback.

  • An AC mains lead of another device or fluorescent light is near the cables. Turn off other appliances, or keep them away from the cables of this unit.
  • A strong magnetic field near a TV or other device may adversely affect the audio quality. Keep this unit away from such a location.
  • The speakers may output noise when a device nearby is emitting powerful radio waves, such as when a mobile phone is on a call.

No sound.

  • Check the volume of this unit and the connected device.
  • Check to see if the cable connections to the input and output terminals are incorrect. If this is the case, turn this unit to standby and reconnect the cables correctly.
  • Check to see if the correct input source is selected.
  • Insert the plugs of the cables to be connected all the way in.
  • Playback of multi-channel content is not supported.
  • The digital audio input terminal of this unit can only detect linear PCM signals. For details, refer to the operating instructions of the device.

Playback does not start.

  • Depending on your environment or connected devices, it may take some time.
  • Check to see if the format of the file is supported.
    For supported formats, refer to "File format" in the Operating Instructions

The unit turns to standby mode automatically.

  • Is the auto off function turned on ?
  • This unit incorporates a protection circuit to prevent damage caused by heat buildup. When you use this unit at a high volume level for a long period of time, it may turn off automatically. Wait for this unit to cool down before turning on this unit again. (For approximately 3 minutes)

The settings are reset to the factory defaults.

  • Updating the firmware may reset the settings.

Disc

Incorrect display or play does not start.

  • Make sure that the disc is compatible with this unit.
  • There is moisture on the lens. Wait for about an hour and then try again.
  • Unfinalised CD-R and CD-RW cannot be played back.
  • WMA/MP3 is not supported. Refer to "Notes on CDs" in the Operating Instructions for information about the discs this unit can play back.

Playback takes time to start.

  • It may take some time for the disc to load if there are a lot of tracks on it.

Radio

DAB+ reception is poor.

  • Keep the antenna away from computers, televisions, other cables and cords.
  • Use an outdoor antenna.

Static or noisy reception is heard while listening to a radio broadcast.

  • Confirm the antenna is properly connected.
  • Adjust the position of the antenna.
  • Keep a certain amount of distance between the antenna and AC mains lead.
  • Use an outdoor antenna if there are buildings or mountains nearby.
  • Turn off the TV or other audio players or separate it from this unit.
  • Keep this unit away from mobile phones if there is interference.

USB

The USB drive or its contents cannot be read.

  • The USB drive format or its contents is/are not compatible with the unit.

No response when [ play / pause ] is pressed.

  • Disconnect the USB device and then reconnect it. Alternatively, turn the unit to standby and on again.

Slow operation of the USB flash drive.

  • Large file size or high memory USB flash drive takes longer time to read.
  • It may take some time if there are a lot of files or folders on it.

Cannot display the information properly.

  • Track names, etc. may not be displayed properly.

Bluetooth®

Pairing cannot be completed.

  • Check the Bluetooth® device condition.

The device cannot be connected.

  • The pairing of the device was unsuccessful or the registration has been replaced. Try repairing the device.
  • This unit might be connected to a different device. Disconnect the other device and try repairing the device.

The device is connected, but audio cannot be heard through this unit.

  • For some built-in Bluetooth® devices, you have to set the audio output to "SC-C70" manually. Read the operating instructions for the device for details.

The sound is interrupted.

  • The device is out of the 10 m communication range. Bring the Bluetooth® device closer to this system.
  • Remove any obstacle between this system and the device.
  • Other devices that use the 2.4 GHz frequency band (wireless router, microwaves, cordless phones, etc.) are interfering. Bring the Bluetooth® device closer to this system and distance it from the other devices.
  • Select "Mode1" for stable communication.

Network

Cannot connect to the network.

  • Confirm the network connection and settings.
  • If the network is set to be invisible, make the network visible while you set up the network for this unit or make a wired LAN connection.
  • This system's Wi-Fi security supports WPA2™. Your wireless router must therefore be WPA2™ compatible. For details on the security supported by your router and how to change the settings, please refer to the operating instructions or contact your internet service provider.
  • Depending on the compatible device, this unit may not be connected to the network.
